The NeoHERO™ Impact

The NeoHERO™ Standard

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) serves as the established standard of care for newborn resuscitation and is jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association (AHA). NRP certification requires renewal every other year to ensure skills remain current.

How NeoHERO™ Improves Neonatal Outcomes

NeoHERO™ improves outcomes by addressing the critical gaps in training, equipment, and resources for emergency responders in the prehospital setting. By ensuring immediate, standardized, evidence-based care (NRP) is delivered by first responders, NeoHERO™ directly contributes to reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality outside of the hospital.

Ongoing Education and Training Commitment

NeoHERO™ provides initial NRP certification and is committed to assisting first responders with ongoing education and training to remain current. This includes facilitating renewal certification and providing quarterly simulations to maintain competency in these low-frequency, high-acuity, life-saving skills.

Tracking Progress and Data-Driven Improvement

NeoHERO™ will track progress by collaborating with participating departments through several phases to systematically evaluate their impact:

  1. Program Assessment: An initial assessment will be conducted to evaluate current trends over the most recent three years for volume, acuity, and outcome related to neonatal emergencies.

  2. Student Competency: Each student will receive a pre-assessment prior to NRP training, followed by a post-assessment to directly measure the increase in knowledge and competence gained from the training.

  3. Kit Replenishment and Data Collection: Emergency kits will be replenished after use or expiration only via a survey that inquires about patient data from the use (e.g., patient condition, interventions performed, patient outcome).

These records and data collected over time will allow NeoHERO™ to conduct systematic quality reviews, better understand further areas of need, and continuously refine the program to maximize its life-saving impact.
