The NeoHERO™ Operating Model

  • A person performing a medical procedure on a patient, administering air or oxygen through a mask attached to a tube, with the patient connected to monitoring electrodes.

    Step 1.

    Collaboration & Needs Assessment

  • Action

We collaborate and build relationships with fire and EMS departments to better understand what training and equipment they are lacking.

  • Benefit

This consultative, grassroots approach ensures that NeoHERO's™ efforts are precisely tailored to the specific, actual needs of each first responder agency, maximizing the impact of every resource.

  • A person in red clothing and blue gloves practicing infant CPR on a baby mannequin outdoors, with grass in the background.

    Step 2.

    Specialized Training & Certification

  • Action

We provide the hands-on training and certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) serves as the established standard of care for newborn resuscitation and is jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association (AHA). NRP certification requires renewal every other year to ensure skills remain current.

  • Benefit

NRP is the internationally recognized "gold standard" for neonatal resuscitation, equipping first responders with the most current, evidence-based skills required to save a newborn's life in the critical first minutes.

  • Medical equipment for infant respiratory care, including a TransWARMER infant transport mattress, resuscitation mask, nasogastric tube, and various straps and tubing.

    Step 3.

    Equipment Provision

  • Action

We provide the recommended thermoregulation kits and resuscitation equipment that are neonatal-specific and appropriately sized.

  • Benefit

NeoHERO™ supplies the crucial, specialized neonatal equipment that local governments often fail to provide, ensuring trainees can apply their NRP skills effectively with the right tools to prevent harm and improve outcomes.

  • A woman in a hospital gown holding a sleeping newborn baby close, kissing the baby's head.

    Step 4.

    Data-Driven Improvement

  • Action

NeoHERO™ will track progress by collaborating with participating departments through several phases to systematically evaluate their impact.

  • Benefit

These records and data collected over time will allow NeoHERO™ to conduct systematic quality reviews, better understand further areas of need, and continuously refine the program to maximize its life-saving impact.
